Filmmaker Aradhana Seth in conversation with Architect Sheetal Rakheja

Aradhana Seth in conversation with Delhi-based Architect Sheetal Rakheja, a graduate of Sushant School of Art and Architecture, and accredited LEED Green Building Professional. [01:55]

I am inspired by the self-sustaining manner in which nature builds.

[02:54]

Nature has the power to change how we feel, how we think, and how we emotionally respond to each other. All my buildings have always had nature deeply integrated into them.

[03:45]

Courtyards are multifunctional in nature – they filter natural light and passively cool the structure.

[04:37]

Sustainability balances ecology, social well-being and environment.

[07:57]

Environmental consciousness should be integrated with occupant well-being in a healthy way. In this manner, buildings can be high-energy performers.

[09:17]

Glass can not only cut down the heat gain in a building, but it also increases the visual light transmission. In our studies, simulation models can help reduce energy consumption.

[13:23]

Sustainability is not just a method of architecture; it needs to be a way of life.

[16:23]

Architects have to play a key role in saving the environment.

[21:20]

Spaces should be designed to reduce waste⊗
